I am writing again to express my gratitude and appreciation for the efficient and quick service provided by your staff. I had previously been amazed at the speed and efficiency with which your staff dealt with the issue of surrender certificate and OCI for my husband and renewal of my Indian passport. This tiem again we were in a bit of a time crunch as we had to despatch a power of attorney document to India and it was a matter of some urgency. We got the document notarized and appostilled and were told that the consulate in SF will 'take its own sweet time to attest it"; well, with no other option, we sent in all the documents and prepared ourselves for a long wait. Imagine our surprise when we got the documents attested and back within a span of 6 days!!...and yes, this included mailing time, one weekend and one public holiday!! I am so impressed by this; I think it is a testimonial to the very dedicated staff taht you have. Kudos!

We were very pleased with the gentleman (did not get his name, unfortunately) who was on the floor directing everybody to the window for the relevant service. It was my privilege to visit CGI @SFO last week. In a brief note I would like to exoress my appreciation towards your staff. I was dealing with Trivisa regarding mu spouse\'s visa and it had been close to 6 weeks with no actual response from Trivisa except some electronic update. Last week,I decided to go to CGI and asked for help.
To be honest My opinion was very negative prior to going there because all the negativity posted by people on the web about CGI SF. But when I went there it was one of the most pleasent experience I had, Courtesy your staff member. I explained my situation to the gentleman named Mr.Kumar who was working at the front window. Mr Kumar was very polite, helpful and couteous. he listened to my concern patiently and advised me Contact Mr.Dubey for further deatils.Mr. Kumar demeaner was examplifying in customer service field beacuse there was a gentleman prior to me who was using a profanity at CGI officials and he handled the situation very calmly.
Next day I called Mr Dubey, The Visa Officer and explained the situation to him. Mr. Dubey took time out of his busy schedule and listened to my request, he explained the process in a fair manner and asked for a time of one day instead of giving me false hope. On 28th Oct 2010 I went to the CGI, Mr. Dubey went above and beyond to resolve my situation.He was extremely helpful,on time, efficient and super polite in handling customers.
This experience at CGI SF was an example of excellent customer service, humanity and professionalism. It was a commendable job by both Mr. Dubey & Mr. Kumar.It actually gave me goosebumps. In my opinion you have the best staff and they should be commended for the excellent job instead of getting bad publicity on the internet.

I would like to thank the Indian embassy at San Franscisco for the excellent service I have always experienced. I received the surrender certificate in less than 2 weeks and now I have received the OCI stamped US passport well within the time line the website lists. For all those of you worried after reading the negative comments on the website, let me assure you that if you do the form filling and provide the necessary documents as per instructions, the consulate provides an excellent service.

I attended your town-hall meeting in Milpitas a few weeks ago where I heard multiple complaints of no response from the Consulate in San Francisco. Recently, my brother was taken ill and I wrote to you asking for help and I did that with a lot of trepidation expecting to run around in circles. Right from the time I wrote the email till today - my experience has been nothing but awesome.
My poor brother who was 35 years old expired leaving behind a 32 year old wife and 3 year old daughter. And I was quite shaken up by that. But before that I received a call from Ms. Anjali of your office on Thursday and she was extremely helpful and understanding when she spoke with me on last Friday. Today by the time I finished my calls with folks in India, I reached the Consulate after 12:30 pm - I was fortunate to speak with Ms. Anjali again today and she immediately started helping me out.
Mr Kumar, your Vice Consul, stepped in and between the two of them they did not ask for any evidence and their treatment to me was OUTSTANDING. They treated me so humanely that I was overwhelmed. I was not even told to come back at 4:00 pm for the VISA - mr. Kumar just asked to to wait and within a few minutes he gave me my passport with the Visa copy.
I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude to both of them and to you for encouraging this kind of trust they exhibited in me. At the end, I gave Mr. Kumar a hug and I am sorry if I made him uncomfortable - but that was the only way I could say thank you without breaking down.
May god give you and your staff the strength to provide this humane level of service to all our needy fellow Indian World Citizens.

Secondly it gives me an immense pleasure in placing on record my highest appreciation for your OCI Team in particular for their continued help by providing timely, speedy and spontaneous feedback concerning various issues like issuance/renewal of passports, PIO & OCI registrations etc. Such type of information has been a source of great consolation, inspiration and; strength to many Indians living around my area who have either no access to computers / internet, transport facilities/driving skills and are entirely dependent on their children or others for help. Most of the senior citizens also lack communication capabilities. People under this category keep on meeting me quite often either at Fremont Temple or in parks to seek solution to their multifarious problems which in turn I take up the same with your OCI Cell for appropriate advice/guidance. Myself having retired in 2003 as Chief Liaison Officer, J&K with my last posting in Delhi since 1992, it has always given me a great pleasure of remaining in touch with all kinds of people and being of some help to them as and when needed. I need to emphasize once again the kind of cooperation your OCI team has been extending is amazing.

I recently had an experience that everyone most of the times is afraid of, I sent in my original passport, and when I got the return envelop back from consulate, it was missing. I immediately sent an email to you as getting through the phone is not always easy. To my pleasant surprie, I got the call from you very next day morning. Not only you were prompt in responding, but after taking few more details from me, you did call me back within 30 min. and told me that, you missed out on maligning passport, and it's in the mail, and here is your tracking number. It must be overwhelming for you at times when you get so many queries every a day (most of them must be complaints). My husband and I have been dealing a lot with the Indian consulate at San Francisco recently. Each time, we had a hassle free and quick service.
My husband needed a Renunciation Certificate. We mailed in all the forms and expected a long wait as we'd been reading about people's complaints about this new procedure. To our delight, we got the certificate in less than a week of mailing in the application!! Later my husband mailed in his OCI application and it has just been 2 weeks but already I can see from teh status online that the OCI has been granted and the documents have been dispatched from India. Similar story with my passport renewal. All in a span of 2 weeks.
Government employees and beaureaucrats in India should take a lesson in efficieny adn customer service from the staff at CGISF!

The new requirements of Surrender Certificate etc. slowed down the progress of my OCI application in need of additional documents and verification. Once the collection and verification of documents were complete, I was amazed by the speed at which the consular officials finished the remaining processes. I physically went there to drop-off my passport for final stamping, and they processed it all in less than a day and got my complete set of documents back in my hand, in less than 24 hours since dropping my US Passport.
I have been living in Bay area for over 20 years and am always used to the highest quality of service from CGI SF, but this time, I truly believe that they have far exceeded my expectations. I have not seen this kind of service even from a private firm. I guess it must be a privilege to be posted at CGI SF as people who work there cross the highest level of bar, in terms of addressing public's needs.

I must congratulate, the Consulate General of India, San Francisco, and its staff, for its efficient and well run organization. This is to put on record, that my experience at Consulate general of India, San Francisco, is worthy of appreciation and praise. Its handling of cases of various natures was totally professional. The helping nature and politeness of every member of the consulate was excellent and admirable. They extended all sorts of help and guidance, as deem fit, in a polite and courteous manner. Every individual whoever visits the consulate was given appropriate advice and guidance. They handled all the case efficiently and at a faster speed.
Our national passport offices should learn some lesson from CGI, San Francisco, and improve their work culture, attitude and behavior.

I was at the consulate for surrender certificate. I was upset because my OCI application, painfully prepared for returned and I am traveling to India on June 6th.
It was cold/rainy and crowded as usual. But the gentleman officer (Mukherjee?) had such fantastic calm, patient and helping attitude that it blew me. He worked shoulder to shoulder with staff who also seemed to imbibe the same attitude.

This whole process of renewing your passport by mail may seem like a herculean task for an ordinary person and makes you feel anxious throughout the process, but the consulate made it so easy and simple.
The consulate\'s website provided clear and easy, step by step instructions, so I just walked through the process of application submission and sending them the necessary documents. I want to place on record the EXCELLENT service I have got from the Indian Consulate OCI staff in San Francisco. My OCI card was delivered to me in 4 weeks (including those of my family). Any queries I raised were answered within 1 hour of posting or sending an email.
This is a level of service which far surpasses anything I have seen from ANY government body in India or the USA.
The service is PROMPT and reliable and I was totally WOWED by how you handled this from start to finish.

The staff was simply amazing, especially, MS. Aban. She realized that I am just a Ph.D student at UCLA, and she and the officials tried to see if there was anyway I could receive the new passport before I fly to India without paying the TATKAL. I was very impressed by the professional nature and the efficiency of your staff. They were firm with their rules about letting only the applicant into the space. There was a young boy who was screaming and even though all of us can sympathize with the situation, it was very disruptive to the peace of the space. I was appreciative when the staff was polite yet firm in letting the family know that only the applicant could be in the room. I do understand that it is not easy to process the traffic that comes through on a daily basis but I have seen an amazing improvement in the proceedings at the consulate and I must congratulate you. I wanted to send thank you note on behalf of my family for helping us in the difficult times. Unfortunately my mother passed away but I had chance to see her and talk to her because of the help from the Consulate to issue visa for me and my family at the right time.
I can never forget the day I visited the San Francisco Consulate. My visa was issued within 10 minutes after waiting for hours in the outsourcing place. Everyone at the consulate were so helpful who understood my situation and even helped us with the directions to reach airport during the heavy traffic hours. I really felt the same warmth that I would receive from my family back home which makes me want to go back to India as soon as possible.

We received the PIO card today for our daughter which I had applied on 12th Oct, 09 by post. I had written a couple of mails seeking early processing of the application. But, I was overwhelmed by the timely response of the embassy staff that not only processed the application within the scheduled number of days but also spared us with a few days to plan our trip better. I am highly indebted by this amazing response that I have received from the Embassy. It feels great and it is only reassuring that our country men are at par with the Americans when it comes to resolving the problems of their country men when they are in need. I am enthused to say that I feel proud to be an Indian and I see that your service has only made me more conscious of my duties as an Indian. Just to mention, we sent out the application on 12th Oct and received back the PIO card on 26th Oct by post which is less than the 15 working days as mentioned in the website.

I just wanted to pass on my appreciation of the service I received at the consulate office today. (and honestly I'm NOT saying this only because my passport app made it through in the rush process).
The girls behind the counters displayed EXCELLENT customer service capabilities. In particular, the one that served me, and was at the pick up counter later on was friendly yet firm, displayed empathy for everyones situation, yet clarity and firmness in dealing problem resolution. There was nothing fake about her communication, it was sincere and with complete understanding!
I had to wait for a couple of hours due to my unique situation and I was observing everyone. All staff were exemplary! The supervisor was as firm as necessary for his role, and reminded everyone of the fact that they are only here to help, we are all from India and should expect the same quality of service and courteousness on both sides, the people in the queue and the people behind the counters.
Yes I did get scolded, rightly so and yes there were a couple of people who were complaining, but I did point out to them that the service was considerably different than what i remember from a few years ago. Much better, much improved.

"This is the 3rd time I had to deal with consulate. For my passport renewal, my son's visa, PIO card. All my experiences have been very smooth. To all the people who bash Indian system and say American is better should just not generalize to all entites in our govt like that. You guys rock!. You are so understanding of any special needs (Even though my mail was with in the stipulated 2 week period I got a repsonse to my mail the very next day). It feels like there is an understanding person on the other side. My wife had her name printed wrong in American USCIS system for some reason (all documents were right) and they made us run to each office for 3 months and in the end took a personal favor from somebody to get this fixed even though no problem of ours. Thanks again for swift and timely response and issueance. I wish all our other govt entities are like our consulate..esp Air India who were never on time in all the 4 times i used and had to grudgingly move to a different airline."

I really appreciate admirable service provided by your OCI staff. I had applied for OCI Miscellaneous services for my son as his passport expired. It was processed really fast. My wife's mother was sick and is travelling tomorrow to india so needed the passport stamped. I sent mail to OCI on Friday once Visa was dispatched from delhi explaining the need to travel. Officer by name Ms. Ajanta called me right away in few minutes and asked me to come to consulate at 3 PM on Monday. I was greeted warmly by lady in the counter and asked to be seated. The stamping was taked care of in 20 minutes. We are extremely releived mentally and My wife and son are travelling to India this Monday.

Recently I applied for renewal of passsports for my son and myself. (USASI0XXXXXX and USASI0XXXXXX )
I would like to put on record amazing experience I had with your offices.
While the personal appointment was scheduled for 26-Feb (means I'm sure there is ample of load); we got our renewed passports received almost within a week including courier days. It was as if your offices is totally automated and hate to keep any inventory of pending applications. :)
Great experience to cherish and share.

I was at the Indian Consulate (San Francisco) the other day for a passport renewal. I just want to say a sincere Thankyou. By the Grace of God I have managed to travel a bit around the globe and sometimes the consulate office services leave a lot to be desired.
The service at your consulate office is impeccable and brilliant.Your calm approach , fast pace, and efficiency make ordinary mortals like me look brilliant.

With due respect, I would like to provide my feedback about San Francisco,CA consulate. I know most of times, people contact regarding complaint but I am sending this email to thanks your staff and specially Jaladhi Mukherjee. We were having serious administration issue from Regional passport office and even to Indian citizen, they decline to accept passport renewal application because last passport was issued at SFO. We were helpless and in between I thought to send email to Indian consulate at SFO. We got reply from Jaladhi Mukherjee and they provide all steps to move forward.
Though regional office did not check or look information provided from SFO Consulate and they asked us to go through long process but quick response from Jaladhi Mukherjee was very very helpful. We ,proud Indian citizen, want to say Thanks to your staff at Indian Consulate and specially Jaladhi Mukherjee. Information provided from them was enough for us to get some confidence.
Sometimes small help can be big for needy person and especially when we have to deal with officer.
Once again , Thanks a lot for your services and appreciate help and support provided to us and looking forward to see professional services.

This is to extent my deepest and prfound appreciation to the entire professional team members at the Consul General of India (CGI - San Francico, USA) for timely processing my application for Personal of Indian Origin (PIO) Card. Despite your extensive workloads -staff members still took the time to patiently answer all my questions and provided specific instructions to assist me in completing the PIO card application process.

I recently visited CGI San Francisco and I was amazed to see the friendly behavious of the entire staff. The courteous treatment and friendly warmth I received has prompted me to write thie email. Very rarely do I find such an amazing staff at any consulate.
