We have made every effort  to make the website user friendly. We have tried to provide the information you  are  actually  looking for, rather than displaying the information  easily available with the Consulate. Special efforts have been made to ensure that all documentary requirements for each specific service can be seen at one location.

We hope this website would also serve as a gateway to India for those who are trying to access information relating to tourism, trade, economy, etc. The relevant information has been made available through various links to important websites.

Please note that with effect from October 1, 2007 processing of Visa applications has been outsourced to TRAVISA OUTSOURCING.  If you wish to apply for  or seek any information regarding  visa services, or if you wish to ascertain status of processing of your application, you must contact TRAVISA OUTSOURCING only.  Pl. contact TRAVISA at: https://indiavisa.travisaoutsourcing.com/homepage.  Or telephone at (415)-644-0149. Consulate will not reply to any email or telephone enquiry on these services.

NOTE:
We are happy to inform that, with effect from November 30, 2012, the gap of two months required between visits to India of a foreign national on a Tourist Visa would be applicable only in the case of nationals of Afghanistan, China, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, foreigners of Pakistan. and Stateless persons. Hence, foreign nationals except those mentioned above need not apply for re-entry permit to visit India if they have a multiple entry visas. Please contact M/s.Travisa Outsourcing if you have any queries.


Regarding Visa Fee

Visa fee for different categories of visa are mentioned on the Travisa outsourcing website. Applicants are required to pay only the fee mentioned on Travisa outsourcing website. Beware of any agent asking for additional payment over and above the prescribed fee.

DIPLOMATIC/OFFICIAL/LAISSEZ-PASSERS PASSPORT HOLDERS:

HOWEVER THE EMBASSY AT WASHINGTON, DC AND CONSULATES GENERAL AT NEW YORK, SAN FRANCISCO, CHICAGO AND HOUSTON WILL CONTINUE TO RECEIVE AND SERVICE DIPLOMATIC, OFFICIAL AND LAISSEZ-PASSER PASSPORTS.

The visa would normally be issued within a week. In case there is additional requirements the applicant will be contacted by phone/e-mail”

Official/diplomatic passport holders also need to attach the following:

  1. Please fill out the following Visa PART-1, PART-2.This Application Form is to be used by Official/Diplomatic/UN LP Passport holders only. It will not be accepted at Travisa Outsourcing.
  2. Letter from Department of State (Gale McCoy office of Passport Issuance Agency)
  3. Fill and attach the Additional information form
  4. Fill and attach the following form
  5. Letter of invitation from Indian agencies in case of bilateral visits
