CGISF Consul General's Message CGISF

Welcome to the new website of the Consulate General of India in San Francisco.

We have made every effort  to make the website user friendly. We have tried to provide the information you  are  actually  looking for, rather than displaying the information  easily available with the Consulate. Special efforts have been made to ensure that all documentary requirements for each specific service can be seen at one location.

We hope this website would also serve as a gateway to India for those who are trying to access information relating to tourism, trade, economy, etc. The relevant information has been made available through various links to important websites.

I hope you would find the website useful. However, improvements are always possible and we look forward to receiving your feedback containing comments, ideas and suggestions to make the website more user friendly and useful.

Your comments/suggestion may be sent to email
With Best Wishes
.
N. Parthasarathi

RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT

[The official Rupee-Dollar conversion rate may be first checked with the Consulate].

INFORMATION ABOUT THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF INDIA< SAN FRANCISCO , REQUIRED UNDER SECTION 4(1)(B) OF THE RTI ACT, 2005

It may also be pointed out that as per section 6(1) (a) of the RTI Act, 2005, a person who desires to obtain information under the Act is required to submit the application to the Information Officer of the “concerned public authority”. Applicants are, therefore, advised to send their requests under the RTI Act to the Consulate only when the subject matter can reasonably be presumed to pertain to the Consulate. While section 6(3) provides for the transfer of an application by a receiving PIO to another [concerned] PIO, this is clearly meant to cover situations where the application is addressed to a PIO on the assumption that it has been directed to the concerned PIO. Where the information required obviously does not pertain to the Embassy, the application may be addressed to the concerned PIO directly. The application should be supported by the proof of Indian citizenship.
