EARTHQUAKE NEWS: CURRENT REQUIREMENTS
OF RELIEF SUPPLIES
The earthquake which hit the
State of Gujarat early morning 26th January (Indian Time) measured
7.9 on the Richter scale and affected western and central India and the loss of
life and property is massive.
Shri L.K. Advani, Home
Minister is personally supervising the flow of relief to the victims and
assessment of damage to life & property. Mr. A.B. Vajpayee, Prime Minister has
taken urgent cabinet meeting to ensure that all governmental State and private
agencies are harnessed to provide relief on a "War Footing".
The Government of India is
confident that it can meet the needs of this tragic natural disaster. Those
wishing to donate are advised to do so by sending in checks/money orders in
dollars or cash to the Prime Minister National Relief Fund, as the fastest way
to get resources for the relief of those affected. Checks/Money Orders should
be drawn in favor of "Prime Minister's National Relief Fund" can be
sent to any one of the following addresses.
