All Naturalized US Citizens of Indian Descent: Please obtain SURRENDER CERTIFICATE berfore applying for any service
Please provide Surrender Certificate for your last held Indian Passport before applying for OCI. If the application is received without the surrender certificate, application would be returned to sender at sender's cost.
THERE IS NO EMERGENCY SERVICE FOR OCI. DO NOT PLAN TRAVEL BEFORE YOU RECEIVE OCI CARD IN YOUR HAND. Please send your US passport in original along with your OCI application. Your US passport will be with the Consulate till the OCI process is complete.
PLEASE CARRY YOUR OCI CARD, YOUR AMERICAN PASSPORT WITH THE 'U' VISA STICKER AND YOUR VALID AMERICAN PASSPORT (IF THEY ARE DIFFERENT) TO OBTAIN ENTRY TO INDIA.
Processing Time: It takes about 45 business days to process OCI application, in this period the US passport is not returned midway please ensure you have 45 days in hand before applying for oci. If you do not see progress after 2 months of submitting OCI application, please send an email quoting Web Application Number.
Enquiry: There is no counter service for OCI. There is no telephone enquiry facility for OCI. All queries should be made through email. Email queries will only be replied after 8 weeks of receipt of OCI application in the Consulate.
Online Status Enquiry: You can check the status of OCI application online at: http://ociindia.nic.in/ociindia/OnlineOCIenquiry.jsp
Dispatch: OCI cards are printed in India. It takes about 10 working days to dispatch OCI card from the date of receipt of the same from Delhi in our office. Please refrain from making queries before stipulated time
