- 'For applying in-person, applicants should submit hard copy of on-line passport applications at the Consualte Between 0900 and 1200 hrs. on the date generated on the application or any date thereafter.
- When applying in person, please carry originals of all the supporting documents, photocopies of which you are enclosing with the application. The originals have to be presented to the Consular Officer
- In cases of passports issued by the Consulate General of India, San Francisco, the processing time for applications for passport-related cases received at the counter is 10 business days from the date the application is accepted by the Consulate.
- For passports issued by other Passport Issuing Authorities; lost/damaged passport cases; change in place and date of birth; the processing time is a minimum of 30 business days from the date the application is accepted at the Consulate
- Money order; or cashier’s cheque in favour of the ‘Consulate General of India, San Francisco’ for the service desired. The Consulate does not accept cash, credit cards or personal cheques or any other banking instruments
- A stamped self-addressed USPS Express Mail envelope if the finished consular documents are to be mailed

The Consulate learns that some agents are claiming to have been appointed by the Consulate General of India and are misleading the public by claiming so. The Consulate informs all the applicants that no repeat no agents have been appointed by the Consulate and that the Consulate deals with members of the public directly.
