3Guidance:

  • Tatkal Service is available for issue/re-issue of PASSPORTS.  This service is not available for Miscellaneous services, PIO Cards or OCI cards
  • Tatkal service is available on compassionate grounds of a genuine emergency like death or serious illness of a blood relation;
  • You should provide documentary proof of the nature of emergency;
  • Present a confirmed air ticket
  • Tatkal service is not available for cases where references have to be initiated; lost and damaged passport cases; and in cases where the passport has not been renewed for more than six months after the date of expiry.

3 Process :

  • In the online application, in the ‘Service Desired’ box, choose option ‘Fresh Passport’ or ‘Re-issue of Passport’  as may be the case
  • Complete online application (see guidance)
  • Attach supporting documents and the following:
    • Documentary Proof of the nature of emergency; and
    • Confirmed air ticket

3 FEE :

  • Non-refundable fee of $150 (One Hundred Fifty) for tatkal and $40 (forty) for passport.
  • Fees should be paid through money order or cashiers’ cheque drawn in favour of the ‘Consulate General of India, San Francisco’.  Personal cheques, credit cards or other banking instruments are not accepted.
  • Fee once paid is non-refundable even if service is refused/delayed
  • The Consulate is now accepting Debit Cards with a service charge of $3.00 (three) at the counter.

 

3 Processing Time

  • Processing time for Tatkal cases is between 1 to 3 business days
